Gown steals DUP Limelight

No folks, you're eyes weren't deceiving you - for all those watching BBC1's documentary tonight on 'The Rise and Rise of the DUP' we would just like to confirm that it was the best student newspaper in Northern Ireland you saw shamelessly plugged in a 10 second camera shot!

On hearing of the imminent arrival of Mr Paisley and his fellow 'No-turned-Yes' men to the Fresher's Bazaar last year, The Gown decided some free advertising courtesy of the BBC wouldn't go amiss. With a full shot of the front page of an old issue and a lingering glimpse of the editors in action interviewing Ian Jnr I think we successfully achieved our goal.

And to think Mr McGourty had reservations about giving us a stall at all...

Wouldn't that still be your most recent issue?

...and a lingering glimpse of the editors in action

Now that would be impressive, however doesn't the term "editor" imply the editing of some sort of publication?

Your cutting and pasting techniques are quite impressive Mr Cather.

Yes it was the last issue of 2006. I will not bother with excuses - you are quite aware of the eventful year The Gown has had. However, its still alive through this blog (which you seem to have a real interest in judging by your frequent contributions) and a hardcopy issue WILL be released in the near future.

Editing implies overall responsibility for the publication - for example if a valuable piece of equipment such as a computer were to go missing and a print edition was well nigh impossible due to this, the editor would have the job of sorting out the situation by attending meeting after meeting and knocking against brick wall after brick wall...We feel fully qualified under these terms and therefore have no qualms about referring to ourselves as editors.

I note that you do not have any issue with the very apt phrase "No-turned-Yes' men" David:)

Now now Mr Cather. I wonder does your bating of 'The Gown' imply that you've got something to hide?

I wonder, I wonder ....
